Swans...and a Couple of Turkeys

November brings a few random works, and a break from octopuses.

First, I picked up a couple of cool gourds at the pumpkin patch last week, and I immediately thought, "swans."

So here's a couple of painted gourds for fun:

They will probably rot soon as I didn't do the standard gourd prep of letting them dry out. But it was fun.

Next, since we're on a roll here, why not a painting of some swans I photographed in Michigan this summer. How majestic they looked gliding by.

This painting took me less than an hour to do, not counting the gesso underlayer drying time. I'm pretty pleased with the result, and I like doing something that didn't take hours (ok weeks) to finish.

Also, these aren't swans, but since Thanksgiving is coming, here's another peek at some turkeys I did two years ago.

I don't know what's next, but Christmas is coming, perhaps something will strike my fancy.
